This is the third recall this month related to a Salmonella risk in pet food, and it's important to be aware of all the recalls so you can ensure your pet isn't eating any harmful food. On October 10th, 2025, the FDA announced a voluntary recall from Raw Bistro Pet Fare in Cannon Falls, MN. This company sells raw food for dogs.
Which Products Were Recalled?
This recall includes two sizes of Raw Bistro Pet Fare's frozen beef dog food. These are the affected products:
Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Frozen – 3 lb bags (UPC 858833002247) Lot 239, Best By 08/27/2026.
Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Bulk, Frozen – 18 lb cases (UPC 858833002629) Lot 239, Best By 08/27/2026.
The FDA found the presence of Salmonella in these products after testing a sample. No other products from this brand have been affected, and luckily, no one reported any illnesses.
The affected food shipped directly to consumers in California, Colorado, Illinois, and Minnesota from September 1st to September 17th. You can find the best by date and lot number on the packaging near the bottom.
The Harm of Salmonella for Dogs and Humans
Dog food with Salmonella can harm both people and animals. If your pet eats the infected food, they can experience lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, and decreased appetite. Keep an eye on your dog if they ate the recalled food. If you notice any unusual symptoms, visit your vet just to be safe. Dogs can still pass Salmonella to humans and other animals even without showing symptoms.
People who come into contact with the dog food should keep an eye out for symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. In extreme cases, Salmonella could lead to more severe health problems, so visit a healthcare provider if you're experiencing symptoms.
What to Do with the Recalled Food
As always, stop serving the recalled product to your pet right away if you have it. Thoroughly wash your hands after handling the product, and sanitize anything the food might have touched, such as counters and storage containers.
Do not sell or donate the recalled food. Instead, return it to your place of purchase for a full refund or securely dispose of it so animals and humans cannot get to it.
